“Back then, growing up in the remote USSR village, we didn’t have much toys there. So hand-made paper dolls were in high demand. Around age 10 I discovered that I could paint well, so I started “designing” paper dolls and their clothes for other kids. My dolls became popular and I was treated better by the kids. I loved the process for its creativity, contrasted with the grey Post-Soviet reality.
Today, a founder of the luxury surface UK-based design brand IA LONDON, Im still into it, guess it is an addiction. It gives me and the IA team an opportunity to work with amazingly talented people: fashion designers, photographers, editors. We do NO TEMPLATES – every project is taylor-made and unique, every time is as exciting as the first.”
